Purpose

  • Establishing a Region-Industry-Academia-Research Collaboration Platform : 
    Revitalizing collaboration networks among the region, industry, academia, and research institutes.
  • Identifying Regional Development Policy Agendas :
    Identifying regional strategic industries and establishing strategies to foster them.
  • Establishing Policies for Regional Business Growth :
    Developing policies to support R&D, technology commercialization, product commercialization, and business attraction for the growth of regional companies.

Program Overview

This image is a diagram illustrating the PORI-Hub establishment strategy and cooperation network, structurally divided into three main sections. First, the top section outlines three primary areas of cooperation and policy identification: 1. Regional-Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Platform: Cooperation with the Pohang R&BD Institutions Council, and cooperation with large enterprises, public enterprises, and SMEs (startups). 2. Policy Agenda Identification: Identification of regional strategic industries and formulation of growth strategies for strategic industries, along with the formulation of R&D and technology commercialization policies for regional enterprise growth. 3. LAB Matching & Technology Advisory: Operation of demand-driven, region-focused POSTECH LAB matching and technology advisory programs. These three pillars point downwards to a central magenta banner that reads the core goal: "Maximizing regional growth potential through the establishment of the PORI-Hub (POSTECH RISE Lab Hub)." Second, the middle section displays the "PORI-Hub Cooperation Platform." Centered around POSTECH, it connects the following entities: - Research Institutes & Government-Funded Research Institutes: GERI, RIST, PAL, KIRO, PIAI, NINT, and IBS. - Cooperation Network: KRICT and KIST. - Regional Enterprise: POSCO HOLDINGS, POSCO FUTURE M, EcoPro, ex (Korea Expressway Corporation), Korea Radioactive Waste Agency, and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. - Enterprise support organizations: pomia and Pohang Technopark (TP). - Local governments: Gyeongsangbuk-do and Pohang. Third, a downward arrow leads to the bottom section, which shows a detailed visual breakdown of the policy process. Three intersecting circles—"Identification of Strategic Industries," "Industrial Promotion Policy," and "Fostering Regional Enterprises"—funnel into a larger magenta circle labeled "Policy Agenda Identification." This, in turn, branches out into four specific outcomes: - R&D - Technology Commercialization - commercialization - Attracting Enterprises
